2025 Strawberry Crop Update – we have some tough news…
It’s no secret that farming can be hard…I mean really hard. We’re sometimes guilty of making it look seamless or maybe even easy, especially on social media. The countless photos of big, beautiful crops of blackberries, blueberries, pumpkins…or buckets of strawberries.
But what if it’s not that simple or glamorous this year?
The fact is, strawberry farmers across the United States are faced with a MASSIVE shortage of healthy plants. Last August, we were just days from taking delivery of 8 acres of strawberry plants, only to be informed, like thousands of other farms, that healthy plants were not available to us. We knew instantly that accepting unhealthy plants was not an appropriate decision given that we would be unable to grow them the Blooms & Berries way. For this reason, we will not have our annual Strawberry Days event in 2025. It was, and is, heartbreaking as our community, our team and our family count on the strawberry crop each spring.
Farming is beyond difficult and full of setbacks. It connects you with the Lord as you ask for guidance and a clear mind, primed for creative ideas to take care of your community, team and family. We see farmers rise from the toughest of scenarios again and again. Full of grit, spunk and life. Like the tulip, we rise from the ground this spring fresh and full of hope.
Read ahead for all the good news including a hopeful glimpse at 2026. We do have a very small, healthy planting of strawberries we hope to harvest for our store in mid to late May. We’re thankful for these few plants.
That being said, we have several exciting announcements, including Blackberry Days (July 12-20th) and U-Pick seasons for sugar snap peas, blueberries, blackberries, and potatoes. Full of hope, we’ve also planted a QUARTER MILLION surprises. IF we can pull it off, it’s going to be GORGEOUS! Stay tuned–we’re excited to share that with you as soon as we feel confident that the trail leads to success.
Our team & family sincerely appreciates your support this year, and we can’t wait to show off all the cool things we’ve been working on to make 2025 fun and exciting.
A very sincere thank you,
